Article 8:

People in ACORD
Staff News

One of the less comfortable aspects of a changing organisation is that inevitably some people leave: people who we have come to depend on and who have become friends as well as colleagues. The imminent departure of both Celia Clarke and David Bennetts - the Funding and Finance Directors respectively - will leave us with the challenge of filling the large holes they leave behind while ensuring that they are replaced without dropping any of the many balls that are currently being juggled.

  • After more than five years as Head of Funding, Celia Clarke, Head of Funding, will be leaving ACORD to work on a freelance basis.
  • David Bennetts will be leaving ACORD after more than three years as Director of Finance. He will be taking up the same post for the Brooke Hospital for Animals, an international veterinary organisation operating in Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan and India. ACORD is currently recruiting a new Director of Finance.
  • Claire Nacamuli is the new temporary Administrator for the Funding Department.
  • Maureen Chambers is the new temporary administrator for Personnel and Administration department.
  • Lavinia Thomas is currently the temporary Regional Adminstrator for the East Africa and Great Lakes Desk.
  • Shah Ahmed, Administrator for Personnel and Administration, left ACORD on 22 May.
  • George Omona joined ACORD on June 1 as Programme Manager for the Northern Uganda Programme. He brings experience not only of the region but also of advocacy and strong management.
  • Joseph Musembi, ACORD Logistician in Southern Sudan and Peninah Nduku Simba were married at ACK Christ Church, Westlands, Nairobi on Saturday April 21st 200.
  • Celeste Nassone is the new Programme Co-ordinator for ACORD's MOZ/07 programme in Niassa.
  • Mariana de Souza, previously Programme Coordinator for ANG/07, has been appointed Gender Officer for Angola.
  • Niki Kandirikirira, previously Programme Coordinator for NAM/02 in Namibia, will be based in ACORD London from July 1 to develop a plan for the establishment of core methodological skills (Critical Enquiry, Analysis and Action or CEA) within all ACORD programming.
  • Porgarius Moelanjane is ACORD's current Acting Coordinator in Namibia.
